**AN UPDATED PORTFOLIO AVAILABLE HERE**
As a lifelong lover of sports, when I was presented the opportunity to combine a field of interest with a major part of my life, I was quick to jump in.
In August of 2017, less than a week into my freshman year of college, I was offered an internship in the athletic communications department as a social media intern for the University of Tennessee. Though I knew much about the history and culture of Tennessee Athletics, I knew little about running successful social media platforms with big audiences and how to effectively cover our teams and events.
Under great leadership looking for teachable moments, I learned a many skills needed for a career in communications:
- social media strategy
- content planning
- proficiency in Adobe Creator Cloud softwares
- copy writing
- social media analytics
- campaign planning
- marketing principles
- customer service skills
- strategic thinking
My experience with Tennessee Athletics has been a great growing experience, and it has opened my eyes to the many possibilities within the field of communications as I look to graduate and enter the job field in May of 2021.
