The Student Organization for Deaf Awareness, also known as the Deaf-Hearing Alliance (DHA), is a student run organization whose goal is to educate people about the Deaf community, culture, and language in Knoxville and he surrounding area.
With a minor in American Sign Language, the DHA is a great organization to learn about Deaf culture and practice my language skills with other people who are passionate about the language and the culture.

Volunteer at Tennessee School for the Deaf (2017-present)
Because of my minor in American Sign Language and involvement in the DHA, I began volunteering at the Tennessee School for the Deaf in the fall of 2017. As a volunteer, I provided childcare for parents of Deaf children while they are in language classes to learn communication skills to use with their children. In this time, we organized short lessons and games based in language skills to reinforce what they're learning at school.
